Personality Profile

General Overview Hailey tends to be shy and is often uncomfortable in extended social gatherings. She is more likely to be found reading in a corner of the mess hall than joining a group of friends for an exciting game on the holodeck. She is polite enough when approached by a stranger, but she doesn’t go out of her way to do the approaching. Once a close friendship has been established, however, she enjoys sharing humorous observations on universal ironies.
Strengths & Weaknesses In an era where using computers is a necessity for almost everyone, Hailey still stands a cut above the rest. From an early age she had an intuitive grasp of technology and programming, and her curiosity has always driven her to learn more about the way things work. While many are content to work only on the surface or upper levels of computer interfaces, Hailey excels at digging deep into the fundamental coding and establishing efficient solutions to the myriad of problems that may arise.

In addition to her near-reclusive demeanor in social situations, Hailey is distinctly uncomfortable working with aliens. While not holding a bias against alien races, Hailey finds the difficulty in connecting with fellow humans expounded by the cultural differences found in alien races.
Ambitions & Goals Hailey enjoys the calm routine of shipboard life. She resists promotion since she knows it means having to lead greater numbers of fellow officers. She would like to someday have her skills and actions contribute to something specifically meaningful
Hobbies & Interests Reading novels is a staple of Hailey’s off-duty life. Her favorite pastime is curling up with a good story in an unused crawlway on the lowest deck of the ship.
Languages Federation Standard, several coding languages

Personal Relationships

Family Relationships Lieutenant JG Samantha Moore – It may seem a matter of course that Hailey and her sister are so close, but they have always believed in the old saying: “Siblings by chance, friends by choice.” Attending SA – Norphin V together, the twins remained close in spite of their diverging paths – Hailey to Operations and Computer Science, Sam to Exo-Botany. While Sam was the more social of the two, she always made time for Hailey. Hailey remains in touch with Sam, who is currently serving as an Exo-Botanist on an exploratory vessel.
Relationships with Friends Lieutenant JG Edron Zaerbe – Hailey met Edron shortly after her second tour on the Vesta began. Their first meeting was, in fact, an unsuccessful attempt by Edron to invite Hailey to join a group of friends in the lounge. In spite of Hailey’s polite but firm rebuff, Edron seemed determined to extend the hand of friendship. During the course of their duties together – it seemed there were always tricky power allocations for Hailey to fix in the propulsion systems – Edron patiently worked on establishing a rapport with Hailey. After a long time, she finally came to know him as one of her few close friends.

Personal History

Personal History The Federation Colony of Dredus II was relatively new as colonies went, which meant that there was still a huge amount of labor to be done. Agricultural Engineer Harold Moore was the third generation of Moores who had fought the land tooth and nail to scratch out a living in the growing colony. Sure, they could have just requested supplies from more established worlds in the Federation, but where was the pride in that? The Moores were a family of the soil, and it was there that they would find their future.

Imagine Harold’s surprise when his little girl, born in the middle of a long Dredus II summer, turned out to have no interest in agriculture. A precocious child, Hailey was constantly looking for answers and, as she grew older, looking for solutions. Those solutions came through the medium of her intuitive connection with computers: rebooting the crashed computer of an automated tractor, optimizing the efficiency of the power distribution across the farm, even bumping the priority of the Moore household to receive the meteorological satellite downlink before anyone else in the colony. That last one had gotten Hailey into quite a bit of trouble, but it had also given her opportunity. Along with the punishment he meted out – six months’ community service after school – the corrections officer provided Hailey information on courses she could take at the Starfleet Academy campus on Norphi V.

Career History

Starfleet Training Having passed her entrance exams with flying colors on all but a few aptitudes, Hailey was accepted into Starfleet Academy – Norphin V. There she found an environment that let her thrive, giving her curiosity and natural intuition with computers a way to grow. She consistently scored highly in her areas of study (although she remained somewhat lax in the social areas), and by the second half of her fourth year she was accepted for a final semester onboard a ship.
Career History Although many cadets were offered the opportunity to serve aboard starships for their final semesters, this was usually done on a small local vessel. In Hailey’s case, she was assigned to the USS Vesta, which was just beginning a five-year mission. The Vesta’s Chief Operations officer had been in need of extra personnel for the Operations department, and after perusing some of the Academy records he had decided to take a chance on Hailey. Her scores, while not perfect, were exemplary and showed a pattern of potential that he hoped to see realized throughout the mission. Hailey more than met his expectations while remotely completing her final coursework, and in mid-2388 she was promoted to Ensign upon graduation.

Hailey spent the remainder of that first five-year mission serving in the Maintenance Division of the Vesta’s Operations Department. Her work was unquestionably skilled, but her superiors wanted to instill some leadership in her. Hailey’s ability and experience had gained her the rank of Lieutenant JG in 2390, but her superiors thought she had more in her. They began grooming her towards Division Lead, including having her work increasing Bridge shifts until she was a regular at the Ops console.

It wasn’t until the second year of her second tour that Hailey could resist no longer and finally accepted the elevation to Maintenance Division Lead.
