| General Overview | Briar is generally a softly spoken individual with an extraordinary amount of compassion for others, especially those in need. She considers herself a very simple individual with simple needs and very few creature comforts, but the one thing she cannot do without is chocolate. She has a genuine love of being around other people, though she often feels awkward and socially inadequate, largely because of her lack of socialising through her younger years. She has a tendency to be a bit of a silent observer, smiling politely and listening as events happen around her. Having spent her life growing up never truly knowing who she was, even to the point of disliking her own name because it is a constant reminder of how different she is to everyone else, Briar longs for nothing more than security, stability and certainty. | |

| Personal History | There is very little known about Briar's most formative years. Found aboard an unidentified Klingon vessel adrift in the Briar Patch, Briar was the only survivor of some still largely unknown disaster that annihilated the entire Klingon crew, yet Briar somehow remained completely unharmed. Medical examinations indicated that she was estimated to be approximately 4 years old and of Betazoid/Human descent. Because no one knew anything of her history it was initially determined that Briar would be returned to Starfleet Medical where she would undergo further evaluation. Named Briar after the area where she was 'found', she was then placed in the care of Commander Jack Alfava. Over the space of the next three years attempts were made to integrate Briar into her new world, however she remained unwilling to cooperate, unwilling to speak and spent most of her time alone in silence. It was only after she was transferred into the care of Commander Jacinta Launceston that she finally started to come out of the shell she had retreated into. After several years under the loving care of Commander Launceston, Briar had grown into a precocious child with a genuine thirst for knowledge and a keen interest in all things medical (the later of which was likely attributed to the great many hours of her childhood spent in Starfleet Medical). She remained homeschooled by private tutors until she entered Starfleet Academy to undertake her own studies in medicine before graduating in the top 1% of her class. |
