Leave of Absence Policy

Created by Captain Aviram Drell on Mon Aug 5th, 2019 @ 3:33pm

Policy

We recognize everyone has commitments to work, school, friends, and family. Sometimes, there are unexpected things (e.g. illness, family emergencies, etc.) or planned trips that take us away for more than a couple of days.

A leave of absence (LOA) is characterized by an inability to meet activity requirements and should last no longer than four (4) weeks.

Any player who requires a leave of absence (LOA) must request one from the command staff. If approved, their request will be entered into the system so there is a record that they are on leave.

Players on leave are exempted from posting activity requirements.

If the leave is expected to last longer than four (4) weeks, the player must request an extended leave of absence (ELOA). Anyone requesting an ELOA will be expected to provide a more detailed reason for the leave as well as an estimated return timeframe.

If the leave is expected to be a very long-term absence, it may be necessary to alter your character’s position or to allow another player to take up your character’s role on the sim until you return.

Disciplinary Action

Failure to inform the command staff of a leave of absence (LOA) will be counted as absent without leave (AWOL).

Attempts will be made by the command staff to contact the player via private message and email. The goal of these contacts will be to identify any issues that may be affecting the player’s activity aboard the simulation and to develop a plan of action for how they might improve their participation.

A player may be removed from the simulation if their continued lack of activity is seen as detrimental to the sim’s progress.

It is possible for individuals who have been removed for inactivity to be reinstated. However, they must discuss the matter with the commanding officer and commit to a plan of action that will work toward meeting the activity requirements.

Follow-Up

Questions, comments, and concerns are always welcomed and should be directed to a member of the command staff via private message or email.

Modification and enforcement of this policy is at the discretion of the commanding officer.
