Captain's log, stardate 70636.3. We arrived at Starbase Montgomery late yesterday. The primary purpose of our visit is to take on personnel and supplies, though I have also decided to grant a few day's shoreleave to the crew.

Our recent survey of three planetary systems provided a wealth of data. However, there were not many opportunities for most of the crew to leave the ship during that time. No doubt many of them are eager to get out and stretch their legs. The fact that the base commander was gracious enough to offer the full range of their station's facilities is a gesture I'm sure the crew will appreciate these next few days.

I am looking forward to finally meeting our new arrivals in person. It is one thing to read through a personnel file or even to talk with someone via subspace and another entirely to interact with them face-to-face. Yet, I remain confident that our newest colleagues are the right fit for what we need.

Much has already been done to make this transition as smooth as possible. All that's left is to move through it so that, hopefully, we will all be able to start this next leg of our journey renewed and refreshed.
