Episode 04: "Tempest"
Location: Personal Quarters
Timeline: Day 1 at 0000
Having finished work early, Harlow had had plenty of time to shower and wash her hair before Mr'isarr finished. She had just emerged from their bedroom, a thick robe around her, rubbing her purple hair dry with a towel when the door opened. Looking up, Harlow smiled with anticipation, knowing exactly who it would be. "I was wondering when you'd get here," she said, her smile turning into a grin.
Glad to be finally home and in more comfortable, familiar surroundings he it seemed had caught his Mate just finishing from a shower. Wrapped in a robe and towel in hand, he could smell the scented moisture in the air from the products she used. "My Mate." He greeted. "My duties took longer than I anticipated, at the conclusion of my shift at least."
"I finished early for a change," she said with a smile as she moved forward to help remove his jacket. "I'm glad to be home though," she added. "I hope it was nothing bad that kept you back longer?"
"Not at all, just took longer than expected to finish." A clasp and zip undone he was able with her help to slip his jacket off his shoulders. It was good to get one of the layers off, while his uniform was custom made to allow for breathability and movement, the compact layer of fur his uniform placed upon him by wearing the material meant sometimes breathability was a bit of a stretch at times.
"Do you want to shower?" Harlow asked, reaching up and running her fingertips along the side of his face, down over onto his chest. "I wasn't sure if you wanted to stay in or eat in the lounge tonight, I wasn't sure what you'd be in the mood for." She smiled as she looked up at him, her eyes sparkling with happiness. Clearly, she was in a good mood.
Taking her wrist in his left hand he turned it and brought it to his nose and breathed in. While she smelt of the products she had used it was the act and it was also still her even if momentarily masked. "Later, before bed." He would be fine at least till then. "Perhaps out, the lounge will be fine." He replied to her following question.
"Then I guess I'd better get dressed," she said with a smile. "I won't be long." Ten minutes later, Harlow emerged from their bedroom dressed in a simple off the shoulder dresss that fell to mid thigh, black sandals on her feet and her purple hair brushed down her back. Walking across the living room, she paused in front of the dresser next to the front door and checked her reflection in the mirrorr, her gaze falling to the bite mark that scarred her shoulder. It was healing, albeit slowly. Turning back toward him, she offered another smile. "Alright, ready?"
Having just finished changing into something more suitable for a social setting he stood upright again and smiled. "I am." He replied and he straightened his attire and to his full height. He wondered on the looks he would get when they left, similar no doubt to the ones they always got when seen together considering height difference and species.

The walk to the lounge passed in small talk as they walked hand in hand. As they entered the lounge, Harlow walked toward the bar to order their drinks while Mr'isarr found a table for them. She was aware of the looks they got, but it had never bothered her. Carrying their drinks back to the table, she set them down and slid into the chair beside him, oblivious to anyone else except his presence. "I met the new CMO today," she said as she picked up her glass of spring wine.
"Oh." No doubt he expected a trio of complaints regarding the injury he inflicted upon her shoulder and the risks such a wound came with. His keen hearing could hear conversation and whisper alike but he didn't let it phase him too much. "And how is the Doctor?"
"He's asked me about taking on more training, maybe expanding my skillset." She took a sip of the wine and shrugged slightly. "It's not something I've ever really thought about before."
"Something to consider." He replied. "With skills comes experience and that comes with advancement to other things like rank and position." He knew this himself having learned new things, did things, training, certifications and qualifications that saw him in the rank and position he was currently.
"I'd only do it if it can be done here on the ship," she replied quietly. "If it meant being away from you I'd turn it down." She looked up at him and smiled. Even seated, the difference between them in height was obvious.
"At least enquire as to your options on board, there is no need to halt an effort that could at the very least be started on board. Caitians in the service are given greater latitude in transfers when a Mate is involved for obvious reasons." He answered as he looked down to her.
"I'll ask some questions, I don't know what I'd take on though, I've never considered any kind of specialty." Harlow set her wine glass on the table, leaning against his shoulder. "Are you happy here?" She finally asked quietly. "I mean on the Vesta, with me?"
"The place is nothing, only you matter." To him anywhere they could be as long as his Mate was there. "Horizon Colony or the Vesta, another starship or assignment it matters not." He responded as he placed his large hand upon her thigh as she leaned against him.
Harlow stood up, moving to sit sideways across his lap, one hand reaching up to rest on the side of his face as his hand returned to her thigh. "Good," she said with a smile, looking up as a plate of meats and sauces was set on the table in front of them. Picking up one of the small cubes of meat, she dipped it in a sauce and held it up to his mouth. "I didn't know what you wanted, so I took a guess."
Her small frame fit his own remarkably well as he held her lest she fall. Already there were some onlookers observing them but he cared little for it. When the meal arrived he took in the array of selections before him and then watched her select a piece, dip it in sauce and offer it. He was glad that in spite of recently using his teeth to mark her that she was unafraid of him or them, knowing first hand now what they could do. Opening his mouth he took the piece from her fingers gently.
As he took the meat from her fingers, her hand moved to his jaw, her thumb caressing his furred skin momentarily before she selected another piece of meat, all thoughts of work gone as she enjoyed the intimacy of the moment they shared. Despite their differences she had no fear of him in any way. She offered the second piece of meat to him, her smile unwavering as she looked into his eyes.
"I hope you plan on eating some of this?" He spoke softly. "I do have my figure to consider after all. Getting fat would do ill to my appeal in your eyes." He joked as he held her, taking the offered piece.
With a laugh, Harlow shook her head "Nothing would dull your appeal in my eyes," she replied as she picked up a piece of meat and dipped it in sauce before eating it herself.
"You say that now, however I am still growing, I still have some growing to do and then my age will take hold." He spoke as he ate some more himself. He wondered what it would be like to rise to the peak of his physical self only to know that from that point it would be progressively downhill from that point on.
"And it won't matter because I'll love you anyway," she said tenderly. "That won't change. Now, how about we finish this and you take me home. I think I'd like to be alone with you now."
"As you wish." Once again his typical reply. In silence they ate but in that silence much more was shown. When the plate was finally empty and pushed aside it was promptly collected. Minutes later, they were on the way home and back to the place of sanctuary, peace and privacy.
